Edgar Solórzano explores the residue of memory and the alchemical power of transformation through fire. As part of the 900 Territorios – Masa series, these works mark a departure from the linear language of the Línea series, delving instead into mass, weight, and permanence. The compositions are dense and rhythmic, evoking a language of spatial occupation that feels primal and meditative—each mark a trace of time made physical.
Design
Carved into carbonized walnut wood, both Brasa 08 and 09 present sculptural surfaces that smolder with texture and presence. Their deep, matte-black finish recalls charred earth or cooled embers, while the hand-carved symbols—subtle variations of recurring geometries—create a grid of elemental imprints. The process of burning becomes part of the language: a poetic destruction that reveals new meaning through subtraction. Each work becomes a tactile topography, a visual memory of fire, mass, and transformation.
