The Jinete Seat draws inspiration from two enduring traditions: the carved stone Molcajetes of Mesoamerica and the saddle as an object of movement, labor, and ritual. Sculpted from solid volcanic stone, its form balances monumentality with intimacy, creating a seat that feels equally at home as functional furniture and sculptural object.
Design
A leather pad is secured to the stone body with traditional concho hardware, while a suspended leather strap introduces a subtle ornamental gesture reminiscent of equestrian craft. The optional seat back is finished in ebonized walnut and detailed with metal hardware inspired equally by saddle ornamentation and body jewelry. The result is a continuation of the piece’s dialogue between tradition, adornment, and contemporary form.
