This tortillero brings together two regions and two lineages of craft—ceramics from Guanajuato and handwoven textiles from Mitla, Oaxaca. A functional object made for the ritual of daily life, it reflects the quiet beauty of collaboration between artisan families, where each element carries history and intention.
Design
It combines a ceramic base with an embroidered fabric cover, showcasing traditional patterns and techniques passed down through generations. The ceramic base is shaped by hand in a family pottery workshop and designed to retain warmth, while the embroidered cotton pouch—woven on traditional looms in Mitla—echoes the geometric language of Zapotec pattern-making. Together, they create a refined and tactile piece that brings texture, meaning, and memory to the centre of the table.
