Red Shift Table is part of the collaborative project between the artist Edgar Orlaineta and designer Simon Hamui. Their deep understanding and appreciation for the manufacturing processes are deeply intertwined with art and design, philosophically and practically.
The Red Shift Table stands as a definitive testament to this partnership, a functional sculpture that celebrates the beauty of how things are made.
Design
Inspired by the fluid grace of movement, this piece reimagines the delicate art of the dance through the medium of solid wood.
Red Shift Table is made of American Walnut boards assembled in an interlocking fashion, simulating the folds that were made at the waist of the dancer's costume. The piece was conceived to be presented together with two Ruth Lounge Chairs. Together, these pieces create a harmonious ensemble that balances sculptural movement with structural poise.
