Tamarindos Twins reflects Eliana Portilla’s ongoing fascination with balance, duality, and mirrored organic forms. Drawing on the symbolism of twinship as both unity and divergence, the piece invites contemplation of relationships—how two entities can be both reflections and opposites. The work embraces rhythm and repetition as a quiet form of dialogue, rooted in nature but abstracted through geometry.
Design
The composition pairs two vertically aligned tamarind-like silhouettes, rendered in black and white to emphasise contrast and reciprocity. Above each figure, a terracotta half-moon balances delicately, while a warm ochre and ivory checkered frame holds the forms in gentle tension. The result is graphic yet soft, methodical yet expressive—a meditation on symmetry in motion.
