Armando Franco was a Mexican architect and designer known for his refined modernist sensibility and deep attention to material and structure. A student of José Villagrán and collaborator of Max Cetto, his work reflects a commitment to clarity, modular thinking, and elegant restraint. Franco’s designs translate architectural logic into timeless forms — crafted with precision, built to endure.
Design
The COFRAN S2C Chair, first made for the designer's own use in 1955, embodies his architectural sensibility in its purest form. Crafted entirely from hand-shaped cedar and assembled through pressure alone, its angular frame is softened by a rolled leather headrest and a single, strap-secured leather seat.
Balancing structural precision with expressive restraint, the chair reflects Franco’s mastery of modular design — a piece defined by proportion, posture, and the quiet confidence of materials brought together in tension and harmony.
