Po Shun Leong is a British-born architect, sculptor, and designer whose time in Mexico during the 1960s and ’70s shaped a deeply material and cultural approach to design. From his early work designing over 70 schools with CAPFCE in Michoacán to his contributions to the Ruta de la Amistad during the 1968 Olympics, Leong’s practice reflects a profound dialogue between structure, craft, and place.
While in Mexico, he created furniture collections merging vernacular traditions with experimental techniques.
Design
The Hacienda Chair is a sculptural composition in wood and leather — a piece that flows with quiet confidence and measured grace. Its curved form and seamless joinery reflect Leong’s deep material sensitivity, where structure becomes movement and function meets poetry. Designed as an intimate response to cultural influence, the chair bridges universality and place — an object of refined craftsmanship that speaks with both presence and soul.
