Po Shun Leong is a British-born architect, sculptor, and designer whose time in Mexico during the 1960s and ’70s shaped a deeply material and cultural approach to design. From his early work designing over 70 schools with CAPFCE in Michoacán to his contributions to the Ruta de la Amistad during the 1968 Olympics, Leong’s practice reflects a profound dialogue between structure, craft, and place.
While in Mexico, he created furniture collections merging vernacular traditions with experimental techniques.
Design
The Hacienda Table designed in the mid-1970s, explores the sculptural potential of turned-wood construction. Composed of solid mahogany posts, its refined geometry conceals intricate joinery — a balance of technical mastery and quiet simplicity. Paired with the Hacienda Chair, the table anchors space with poise and intention. Together, they form a dialogue of structure and subtlety — a study in sculptural modernity shaped by hand and vision.
