Part of the Kajaal Collection Comala draws its name from the Nahuatl word for “place of the comals.” In Mesoamerican cosmology, the comal is not only a tool of sustenance but also a symbol of the moon—reflecting light from shadow. This piece pays homage to that duality through material and form.
Design
Crafted in resin with a matte stone-like texture, Comala features a sculptural basin with softened, undulating edges. Its low, wide profile nods to traditional cookware while abstracting it into a contemporary ritual object available in various hues and colors. The form balances organic asymmetry with quiet geometry, inviting use as a centrepiece or sculptural vessel.
